EUCAP at the NeuroDem Bootcamp: Co‑designing with Youth Workers to Amplify Neurodivergent Voices

The NeuroDem Project – Empowering Youth to act as Changemakers for Inclusive Democratic Advocacy and Innovation is a two-year Erasmus+ project that aims to engage, connect, and empower neurodivergent youth as changemakers through inclusive democratic and advocacy initiatives. In February 2026, EUCAP team members Kosjenka Petek, Petra Lindberg, and Sofya Doyko joined partners and participants for the project’s three-day Train‑the‑Trainer Bootcamp in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Over three days, youth workers and neurodivergent young people from all partner countries worked together through five partner-led modules. EUCAP delivered a practical session on Strategies for Cross‑Sector Collaboration, exploring how healthcare, education, and other stakeholders can coordinate to better support neurodivergent youth. The module mixed interactive workshops and simulation exercises to build practical skills: participants practiced accessible facilitation techniques, co-designed ideas, and tested tools for inclusive decision-making.

Working with the participants through activities and open dialogue, we identified key concepts in supporting Autistic and ADHD youth in democratic participation and self-advocacy. These insights and feedback will shape the NeuroDem Project’s final materials and results. EUCAP and project partners will continue piloting these materials, aiming to scale successful practices across partner countries and beyond.
